Washington, D.C.

The National Turkey Federation, along with 225 other agricultural and food organizations and the Administration, are supporting the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement and are now encouraging Congress to approve.

The TPP is a trade agreement across 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region that will increase new market opportunities for U.S. exporters well as encourage economic growth. For U.S. turkey farmers, this will allow increased market access to Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and more.

“While TPP will help remove trade barriers and allow future market access, it is also an opportunity for these countries to work together to enhance the development of food safety measures and proceed to talk about them in a science-based manner,” said NTF President Joel Brandenberger. “American turkey farmers will be able to provide turkey to those in the Pacific Rim also improve positioning in future trade agreements.
